Weekend Is Near: Trip to Margaritaville Required

This has been a terrible week for me. Nothing seemed to go right. Everything, no matter how well planned, turned in a direction no one could have predicted.

So I decided tonight we’ll just go to Margaritaville.

Where is Margaritaville? It is in the State of your Mind. It is a State of Mind. It is between the Port of Indecision and Southwest of Disorder. There is no latitude and longitude for Margaritaville. You know it when you get there.

Since Jimmy Buffett, in many ways, invented Margaritaville and serves as permanent Mayor, we decided to call him on the phone and get directions.

“Jimmy, this is John. Give me a course to steer toward Margaritaville my friend.”

“John, You are on course, my man.  A true Margarita is made from three ingredients. Tequila, Cointreau (a Triple Sec), and fresh squeezed Lime Juice. It is a Health Drink. Just ask anybody in a good bar.”

I can tell we are on to something here. Did I mention that my wife is Vietnamese? She can tell when a week goes as badly as this one. She asked me last night, “You lose your happy?”

“Yes Dear, I did, but Jimmy Buffett is going to help me get it back on the weekend.”

She knows not to ask, “Who is Jimmy Buffett?” So many friends troop through our place on some of these weekends that she has to think she met him already.

She is content with that. She is happy to know “Jimmy to the rescue of my John man.”

I’ll get my happy back and there are no additional women required.

At least not YET!

Jimmy continues: “You’ve got my music, right?”

Check.

“You’ve got shorts?”

Ditto. “I’m wearing ‘em.”

“Turn the furnace up and get hot so you can cool down.”

There is a certain wonderful logic there!

“And turn the blender on, man!”
