Clinton Foundation officials now face a potentially devastating barrage of investigations by Congress, federal regulatory agencies, state attorneys general and perhaps a probe by a special prosecutor, according federal law enforcement and philanthropy regulation experts.
The months ahead could determine what kind of future, if any, the Clinton Foundation can have as Congress and the new administration of President-elect Donald Trump take what is certain to be a tough look the ethical and legal issues that have swirled for years around the troubled charity.
Former President Bill and Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, have been accused repeatedly of turning the foundation into a tool for personal enrichment by using it to market official government favors, access and influence to wealthy individuals, corporations and foreign governments.
Little is expected to happen until the Trump administration takes over Jan. 20, 2017.

Hillary Clinton’s election defeat is like no other in American history as her personal electoral failure has also unearthed a long-rumored possible skeleton in the closet: that the Clinton Foundation is little more than a get rich quick scheme of Lothario Bill and his power-hungry partner.
A former Justice Department hand put it nicely: “She exposed The Inelegant Practices of the Foundation.”
The cruder among us might say, like an arsonist that returns to watch the fire consume a house, Hillary Clinton has shown potential prosecutors all they need to know to formulate a legal case or two.
The question is: Will The Clinton Foundation Survive? Can The Clinton Foundation Survive?
Even if a new breed at the Justice Department insists upon full compliance with philanthropy regulations, will rich sheikhs seeking to curry favor and influence with the aging Bill and the defeated if not yet disgraced Hillary want to give money to a venture living under a cloud.
“They’ll only give money now if we put them in the witness protection program,” one former State Department official told Peace and Freedom.
“What fun is that?”
